Academic Common Market
(ACM)
The purpose of the
Academic Common Market
is to share between
states specified
academic degree programs
located at southern
public colleges and
universities. This is
accomplished through an
exchange of students
across borders at
in-state rates. This is
a Southern Regional
Education Board
sponsored program.

ACT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides
more than a hundred
assessment, research,
information, and program
management services in
the broad areas of
education and
workforce development.
Alabama Administrative
Code
The Alabama
Administrative Code is
published by the
Legislative Reference
Service pursuant to
subsection (e) of
Section 41-2--7 of the
Code of Alabama 1975.
The Alabama

compilation of the rules

covered by the Alabama

Act.
Alabama Agricultural
Land Grant Alliance
(AALGA)
AALGA is
rooted in a shared
commitment on the part
of agricultural
researchers and
administrators at
Alabama A&M University,
Auburn University, and
Tuskegee University to
find new and better ways
to respond to the needs
of the people of Alabama
and the agriculture that
is a large part of our
state's economy. While
some joint research
projects were already
being carried out, it
was felt that a more
formal alliance could
facilitate more
effective joint efforts,
focusing multi-faculty
expertise and resources
on identifying and
promptly responding to
the most critical needs
of Alabama. Thus AALGA
was formed in June,
2000.
Alabama Articulation and
General Studies
Committee (AGSC) /
Statewide Transfer and
Articulation Reporting
System (STARS)
AGSC was created in
March of 1994 by the
State Legislature
through ACT 94-202.
The act states four
specific charges of the
committee: 1) develop
a statewide freshman-
and sophomore-level
general studies
curriculum to be taken
at all public colleges
and universities; 2)
develop and adopt by a
statewide articulation
agreement for the
freshman and sophomore
years for the transfer
of credit among all
public institutions of
higher education in
Alabama; 3) examine the
need for a uniform
course numbering system,
course titles, and
course descriptions; and
4) resolve problems in
the administration or
interpretation of the
articulation agreement
of the general studies
curriculum.
The STARS System allows
public two-year students
in Alabama to obtain a
Transfer Guide/Agreement
for the major of their
choice. This
guide/agreement, if used
correctly, guides the
student through their
first two years of
coursework and prevents
loss of credit hours
upon transfer to the
appropriate public
four-year university in
Alabama.

Alabama Association of
Student Financial Aid
Administrators (AASFAA)
The membership of AASFAA
consists of individuals
involved in the
administration of
student financial aid,
either as active
financial aid officers
or in a supporting
capacity at various
governmental agencies
and a variety of private
industries. The purpose
of AASFAA is to provide
training and support for
the membership. The
association provides
opportunities for
financial aid
professionals to share
ideas and work together
on legislative issues
and policies that
pertain to financial aid
